Here’s what will happen during your mammogram:
You’ll check in at the front desk when you arrive and fill out any necessary paperwork.
Our staff will explain the procedure and answer your questions. You’ll be asked to undress from the waist up and put on a hospital gown.
A technician will position you to stand in front of the mammogram machine. Then, she will place your breast on a clear plastic plate.
Another plate will gently press down on your breast to spread out the tissue. This step is important for the machine to get clear images. But you may feel some discomfort.
The machine will take multiple X-ray images of your breast from different angles. The entire process usually takes about 20 minutes.
After the scan, you can get dressed and go about your day. Our radiologist will review the images and send a report to your doctor.
